The L214 footage, filmed between May and September, shows piglets slammed to the ground to be slaughtered and castrated “lively”, the sows are hit with trowels so that they stand up, according to the association. She denounces unsanitary conditions in this farm which has around 4,000 animals.
The co-founder denounces “totally illegal practices”. Sébastien Arsac, co-founder of L214, director of the investigation department, explains that “live castration without painkillers has been prohibited since January 2022. Routine docking of tails has been prohibited since 2003”. In this breeding, “all pigs, at all ages, have their tails docked, so it is done systematically”.
The L214 association is calling on the Minister of Agriculture, Marc Fesneau, to ban the beating of piglets and any form of castration.
