Fighting rages in eastern Ukraine. kyiv announced on Saturday September 10 that it had taken over the city of Koupiansk, in the east of the country. Ukrainian special forces posted images on social media, showing their officers “in Kupiansk, which was and will always be Ukrainian”. A regional official posted a photo of Ukrainian soldiers in the city of 27,000, with the caption: “Kupiansk is Ukraine”.

Ukraine came as a surprise this week by claiming to have gained ground in the east, in the Kharkiv region. “We can take back our territories, our lands”, welcomed President Volodymyr Zelensky. For its part, the Russian army has sent armored vehicles and guns as reinforcements to the Kharkiv region, Russian news agencies reported on Friday, publishing images transmitted by the Ministry of Defense.
