Kirill, the Patriarch of the Orthodox Church, faithfully supports the Kremlin

In Russia, Kirill, the patriarch, placed the Orthodox Church at the service of the state. On the heights of Moscow (Russia), a cathedral dedicated to the armed forces has been built. The patriarch’s nationalist speeches resemble those of Vladimir Putin. “Based on all our military victories, we have built the development of our country”assures Kirill, Orthodox Patriarch of Moscow, at the head of the Church since 2009.

The 75-year-old patriarch is suspected of close ties to the KGB. Attracted by power and luxury, his personal fortune is estimated at several billion euros. The Orthodox hierarchy is financed by the Kremlin. “The Kirill is in the front line of personalities suspected of compromise, not to say complacency. He blesses weapons”, explains Michel Kubler, Catholic priest, specialist in Orthodoxy. Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, dissonant voices have been heard in the Orthodox Church.
