Kings hire Marc Bergevin as senior advisor

Former Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin quickly fell back on his feet after being fired by the team just over a month ago.

The Los Angeles Kings announced on Sunday that Bergevin had joined the organization as a senior adviser to the general manager.

“Marc brings a lot of knowledge and experience to our staff who look after hockey operations. He will be a valuable addition to our group, said Kings vice-president and general manager Rob Blake in a statement. We look forward to hearing his contributions. “

When the 2021-22 season began, Bergevin was in his 10e year as general manager of the Canadian. Previously, he had spent seven seasons as manager of the Chicago Blackhawks, most notably as an assistant general manager in 2011-12.

“I enjoyed my time away from hockey, but I’m excited to join the Kings and have an active role in helping the team reach their goals,” said Bergevin. I have great respect for Luc (Robitaille), Rob and the staff they have in place. It is an honor to be able to share my vision within this highly esteemed group. “

Bergevin enjoyed a 20-season career as a defenseman in the NHL, scoring 181 points in 1191 games, with the Blackhawks, New York Islanders, Hartford Whalers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Detroit Red Wings, Blues. of St. Louis, the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Vancouver Canucks.
