Washington thinks Russia could launch an attack by mid-February. In Ukraine, we are preparing for it, because the city of Kharkiv would be particularly targeted.

40 kilometers from the Russian border is Kharkiv, the city of all dangers. Indeed, if Russian President Vladimir Putin attacks, Kharkiv will be under bombardment. The locals don’t want to let it go. “I am 73 years old but if the Russians arrive, I will take up arms and go to the front”, says one of them. Out of sight, volunteers prepare for the attack.

But in Kharkiv, there are also pro-Russians. Live on national television, Andrii Lesyk, of the pro-Russian party, intends to be heard. “What will NATO bring us? Nothing”, he replies. A position against the United States and Europe that some reservists do not share. After the call of Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president, thousands of volunteers are currently training for combat. The 4,000 shelters for the population are urgently checked. The inhabitants of Kharkiv have been living in anguish for a week.
