Promoting the film Retirement home which will be in theaters on February 23, 2022, Kev Adams (30) told journalists from TV Star that an actress in the series had almost died during filming. This is Mylène Demongeot (87 years old) who contracted covid-19 shortly after starting to shoot this film directed by Thomas Gilou.
As a reminder, the filming was organized at the very beginning of the Covid-19 epidemic at the start of 2020. Still in shock, Kev Adams says: “I was very afraid for the health of my partners, especially for Mylène Demongeot, hospitalized in intensive care, who was in a coma!” Distraught, he says that the hospital had even called him to warn him of the probable death of the actress.
He tells : “We started filming before the confinement and after three weeks it was stopped. Eight of the lead actors, over 80, had to go home for three months. One of them – Mylène (Demongeot, editor’s note) – fell ill and the hospital doctor called us straight out to tell us: ‘You have to rewrite your film, because she’s not going to make it.‘”
And while the doctors predicted the worst for Mylène Demongoeot, she decided to trust Professor Raoult and follow his treatment with chloroquine. A treatment that literally saved his life according to the actress who wanted to thank Didier Raoult during an interview on RTL opposite Laurent Ruquier. “I’m ready to shout it everywhere because I see that we bother him like it’s not allowed. But I owe him my life. So I say thank you, teacher!“ she had indicated.
A topical film whose release falls at a more than propitious time given the recent scandals revealed in retirement homes. “Since the start of the pandemic, the isolation of the elderly has never been so marked. This dismissal is very violent (…). We prefer to put the subject aside, under the carpet, as a shameful thing“, confides with regret the 30-year-old actor.
