Karlovy Vary Festival | Geoffrey Rush will receive the Crystal Globe

(Prague) Oscar-winning Australian actor Geoffrey Rush will receive the Crystal Globe award for his “outstanding contribution to world cinema” at the Karlovy Vary film festival next month, organizers announced on Tuesday.

Rush, 70, won the Best Actor Oscar for shine in 1996.

Known for his role as Captain Barbossa in the Pirates of the CaribbeanRush was also nominated for an Oscar for Shakespeare in Love, Quills and The King’s Speech.

Benicio del Toro, who won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Traffic, will receive the Festival President’s Award. The 56e edition of the festival will be held in the western Czech spa town of Karlovy Vary from 1er to July 9.
