Karim Ouellet died of a complication of diabetes

The singer Karim Ouellet would have died in November of a diabetic ketoacidosis in a context of consumption of methamphetamines.

This is the conclusion of coroner Sophie Régnière, in a report made public on Wednesday.

The report states that the death would have occurred on November 15, 2021.

Karim Ouellet’s body was found on January 17, 2022, after the owner of the studio where he was staying called 911 following complaints of a foul odor.

According to the coroner, the police and paramedics found the singer’s body “at the beginning of mummification”. No trace of violence or burglary was observed.

Karim Ouellet had type 1 diabetes, it says in the document. Diabetic ketoacidosis is a complication that often occurs in people whose diabetes is poorly controlled.
