(Kansas City) Sporting Kansas City has moved its April 13 Major League Soccer match against Lionel Messi and Inter Miami to the home of the Kansas City Chiefs, Arrowhead Stadium.
The team confirmed this information on Monday, meaning it will temporarily leave its usual home, Children’s Mercy Park.
Arrowhead Stadium, which is located in Missouri, has a capacity of 76,000 seats. It is also the home of the Chiefs, and the oldest of 11 U.S. venues that will be used to host matches for the 2026 Men’s Soccer World Cup.
Children’s Mercy Park, which is located in Kansas, has a capacity of 18,000 places. The soccer team, formerly known as the Kansas City Wizards, played at Arrowhead Stadium from 1996 to 2007. Sporting Kansas City also used the NFL facility for an exhibition match against Manchester United in 2010 , which attracted 52,424 spectators.
Individual tickets for Sporting Kansas City matches will go on sale starting January 16, and will start at US$65, it was announced.
In addition, Messi and Inter Miami are scheduled to visit CF Montreal at Saputo Stadium on May 11.
