“Have you ever dreamed ofa dinosaur in your living room ?”we asked Thomas Sotto and Julia Vignali on the set of “Télématin”. “But I I have one in my living room“answered Julia Vignali, in reference to her husband Kad Merad. “A Talented Dinosaur”commented Thomas Sotto, very moved recently on the set after a farewell speech. “I think of my husband”explained Julia Vignali, before her counterpart added: “I hope he’s not awake to hear that”. “He is not”, retorted the wife of Kad Merad, who explained last month the secret behind his erections in the cinema, with scotch tape and little tricks neither seen nor known. If he was awake this morning, let’s hope he got up on the right foot!
Especially since Kad Merad is sensitive these days, as evidenced by his last appearance in “Daily” on September 7th. Invited as part of the release of “Honorary Citizen” on September 14, the actor confided in his complicated relationship with his Algerian family since the death of his father. “My mother is from Berry and my father is Algerian. They met in France. Very quickly, they left to open a hairdressing salon in Algeria but, for my mother, they returned after two years. I was born during this parenthesis while my three brothers and sisters were born in France. But we have all, and always, been connected with this country”began by telling the actor facing Yann Barthès.
Before continuing, very moved: “I have my aunts, my uncles, I have nephews, cousins, I never see them. I saw them a lot with my dad, who left us… It was my link with Algeria my father That’s why I’m a little sad when I imagine that he couldn’t see this film because inevitably it can only speak to him, make him happy. This film is for my father eventually, somewhere.”
