In the excerpt broadcast, the Prime Minister refers to a video of him that has been circulating for a few days and where he is having a full-bodied discussion with a so-called supporter of the People’s Party of Canada, placed on the far right of the chessboard Canadian politics, on the campus of the University of Manitoba, in Winnipeg. The video has created some controversy over Mr. Trudeau’s remarks on the issue of protecting women’s rights, his interlocutor saying himself “provie”.
“You may have seen this video lately,” asks Justin Trudeau, holding his phone which scrolls through some of these images. He explains that he received, following the unveiling of this viral segment, a series of messages, comments and suggestions from his supporters telling him that he could have used such and such an argument during this exchange. .
“First, we increased access to the abortion pill […]. We are working with partners to ensure that sexual and reproductive health care is safe and inclusive.[f]s, and we are in the process of ensuring that the provinces deliver on their commitments in this area, ”recalled the Prime Minister.
Mr Trudeau also alluded to a bill introduced by Conservative MPs in the House of Commons in 2021 to try to restrict access to abortion, which Liberal MPs stifled along the way.
“I want to make one thing clear. We [n]’We are never going to tell a woman what she can or cannot do with her body, because we are proudly pro-choice, and we always will be,’ said Mr. Tudeau.
