Victory for 196 former employees of the AIM slaughterhouse in Sainte-Cécile. After a trial held in November 2021, the Avranches industrial tribunal ruled on June 27 that their dismissal, which occurred in 2018 following the receivership of their company, was void.
Justice is served today
The courts have in fact considered that this dismissal for economic reasons, disputed by former employees of the Manchois sitewas pronounced on the basis of a modified job protection plan. Each of the former employees will receive 30,000 euros in compensation for this reason, as well as 5,000 euros for lack of management of psychosocial risks, 169 euros for a bonus which had been canceled after the job protection plan and finally 1,000 euros for non-compliance with this same PSE. In total, they will therefore each receive 36,169 euros in compensation.
36,000 euros in compensation per employee
Sébastien Lafon, representative of former employees, salutes “a victory, on a file that was very complicated since its creation in 2015” when the employees had taken over the site. “We hope a page that turns, for all of our colleagues who are today without work, that it gives them hope for a better life”. A third of them have in fact not found a job since 2018.
The lawyer for the former employees of the AIM slaughterhouse, Me Elise Brand, also believes that “justice is served today”whereas “in our company, making the voice of employees heard is very difficult”. “The closing of the slaughterhouse, which they carried out at arm’s length, took place in atrocious conditions”also recalls Me Brand, adding that three employees “committed suicide” following the closure of the site.
