Juliette Binoche recounts her unbearable filming with Vincent Lindon

Guest of the program “The original band” on France Inter, Juliette Binoche, with her outspokenness which makes all her charm, did not hesitate to extend on her long months of exhausting filming shared with Vincent Lindon. Coming to promote “Avec amour et acharnement”, currently in theaters, and directed by Claire Denis, the actress did not hide the difficulties she encountered with her play partner: “It was not easy”, she announced. “Anyway, Vincent, he wants to do politics. Didn’t you guess? It’s obvious”. And to add: “He has an anguish of not being seen, of not being heard and therefore he does everything to exist. And I understand it. But as a teammate, it’s not always easy. And I don’t let myself be pushed around either and he mustn’t be used to that. There is a parity, we have the right to exist one like the other and it was complicated (…) It has rarely happened to me that a shoot is not necessarily calm.

Awards galore, including an Oscar!
And shootings, Juliette Binoche has known! With more than sixty feature films to her credit, she is the first actress to have won an interpretation prize at the prestigious festivals of Cannes, Venice and Berlin. Without forgetting, her César for best actress as well as her Oscar for her second role in “The English Patient”. But she has never taken the “big head”, always on the front line to defend social, ecological or humanitarian causes.

An unlivable passionate relationship

Throughout her interview at the microphone of Nagui, the actress nevertheless wants to temper the difficult times she went through by admitting to having shared a certain form of complicity with Vincent Lindon: “We were both brave to finish and go all the way. We played the game.” The story ? Inspired by Christine Angot’s novel, “A turning point in life”, the film “Avec amour et acharnement” presents a couple living an unlivable passionate relationship, imbued with hatred and love and caught in a love triangle despite themselves. For this film, Claire Denis received the Silver Bear for Best Director at the 2022 Berlin Film Festival. This is always an additional bonus for Juliette Binoche.
