Singing helps combat and sometimes completely eradicate stuttering. Yoann Fréget, winner of the second season of The Voice is living proof. A daily stutterer, the artist shows no signs of stuttering when he sings. This year, at the star Academya candidate also suffers from this handicap: Julian
. Or rather, suffered from it for a long time before eradicating it.
He was also able to prove it this Saturday January 20, 2024 during the prime when he faced Axel. During the evening, Julian had to face his opponent in an a cappella duel. He chose to recite a text describing his adventure at the castle before singing The world that is mine from the cartoon Hercules. “When I read my text, I almost cried”told Julian to Héléna when the two mentioned this performance during their debrief. If Julian managed to hold back her tears, her friend struggled a lot to do the same: “It was beautiful. You almost got me.”

Julien overcame his disability thanks to music
But what caught Héléna’s attention was the fact that Julian added passages to his text. “I was following the teleprompter and I saw that you were changing words or removing sentences, adding more”she explained to her friend before continuing: “It’s something I can’t do. When there are presentations in progress, I have my text by heart.” The opportunity for Julian to tell him something: “That paralyzed me in class. Plus, I stuttered”.
The young man has not forgotten this fight against stuttering. Especially during his school years. “It was horrible. You look like an idiot”, he assured, still saddened by this period. For her part, Héléna wanted to know up to what age the finalist of the program hosted by Nikos Aliagas stuttered: “Oh dear, late”, he admitted. If today Julian hardly suffers from it anymore, it’s thanks to the music and self-confidence: “It’s gradual. The music, particularly. And gaining confidence in myself; And above all, in fact, working.” Proof that it is possible to combat this speech problem.
