Julian Assange arrived in American territory, where he must be presented to a judge before regaining his freedom

Australian whistleblower Julian Assange arrived on Tuesday June 25 (during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday local time) in the Northern Mariana Islands, a US territory in the Pacific where he is expected to find freedom after pleading guilty in court, according to AFP journalists.

Prosecuted for publishing hundreds of thousands of confidential American documents, the founder of WikiLeaks must now appear in federal court in Saipan, according to court documents made public overnight from Monday to Tuesday. The 52-year-old Australian had been detained in a British prison for five years, after taking refuge for seven years in the Ecuadorian embassy in London.

According to court documents, WikiLeaks founder agrees to plead guilty to one count, relating to “obtaining and disclosing information on national defense”said his wife. “The priority now is for Julian to get healthy again,” “he has been in a terrible state for five years” and wish “being in contact with nature”, said Stella Assange.
