They left their opponents no chance. Fast on skis and superior in shooting, Julia Simon (19/20) and Lou Jeanmonnot (20/20) flew over the mass start of Antholz-Anterselva (Italy), Sunday January 21, to sign a third French double in the Cup of the world this winter.

This is the second podium in two races for the two French women, already 2nd and 3rd in the individual on Friday, behind the Swiss Lena Haecki Gross, who completed the podium on Sunday.

“It was the speed of the shot that made a bit of a difference today, I also tried to play strategically so as not to leave at the wrong time […]because I was less physically well today than on an individual level”confided Julia Simon to the microphone of La Chaine L’Equipe upon arrival.

Julia Simon, new leader of the general classification of the mass start

Long in the running for third place thanks in particular to good skiing time, Justine Braisaz-Bouchet (16/20) missed two targets on her last standing shot, relegating her, at the finish, to 9th place, just behind her compatriot Gilonne Guigonnat (18/20), 8th for her first mass start.

This victory is good for Julia Simon. The native of Albertville takes the lead in the general classification of the mass start at the expense of Justine Braisaz-Bouchet and will wear the red bib of leader of the specialty during the world championships in Nove Mesto (Czech Republic), from February 4 .
