John Aylward, star of the ‘Emergencies’ series, has died at the age of 75

This is sad news for fans of the series of the 90s and more particularly for the faithful of Emergencies, the first medical series of its kind, which appeared in the middle of the decade on France 2. Born on November 7, 1946 in Seattle, John Aylward made numerous appearances in feature films and television series before joining the cast of ER during season 3. In the guise of surgeon Donald Anspaugh, renowned for his intransigence and his great professionalism. Despite somewhat rustic contours, his character will take on another dimension when his son, then a young teenager, is diagnosed with incurable cancer. And it is with great pain that he will then have to bury the young Scott, supported by Jenny Boley (Gloria Reuben).

The actor also appeared in season 7 of The West Wing (At the White House) where he played the role of Barry Goodwin. John Aylward has mainly built his career on television roles such as in FBI – Missing in Action, Cold Case: Closed Cases, New York – Judicial Police, Stargate SG-1 or The Practice: Bobby Donnell & Associates.
