Jeanne Côté, big winner of the Francouvertes

An offshore wind blew in the final of the 27are Francouvertes Monday evening, while the Gaspésienne Jeanne Côté won the prestigious competition for French-speaking musical talent.




The 28-year-old singer-songwriter, who launched her first album at the start of the year, therefore wins top honors with her folk songs punctuated by the waves and inspired by the wild beauty of Petite-Vallée, where she is born.

Among the 21 artists who had been selected by the Francouvertes and who went through the process of the preliminaries and then the semi-finals, three found themselves on the Club Soda stage on Monday. Rapper Parazar won second place, while Héron and her pop trad finished third. The three finalists also received a slew of prizes that will help kick-start their careers.
