This third volume of a remarkable complete Violin concertosby Jean-Marie Leclair (1697-1764) brings together Concertos opus 7 nbone 4 and 5 and the Concertos opus 10 nbone 4 and 5. If we wanted to schematize, we could treat Leclair as “French Vivaldi” as it is undeniable that his language owes a lot to the Italians (the notice cites Locatelli, Somis and Vivaldi). Leclair was in his time a virtuoso dancer and violinist who composed. His concertos, brought together in two notebooks of six works, Opus 7 and 10, were revealed by the interpretation of Gérard Jarry and Jean-François Paillard in the 1970s. Twenty years later, it was Simon Standage (Chandos) who brought them into the baroque universe. Another twenty years later, here is a new reference with one of the stars of the baroque violin of the hour, the Swiss Leila Shayegh, very noted for her Sonatas and Partitas of Bach and his Four Seasons by Vivaldi. The nourished and coated baroque of Standage gives way to a more chamber music vision, austere, but embodied.
