Jean Imbert: His restaurant taken over… by his younger brother Léopold!

At the age of 40, Jean Imbert is a known and recognized chef. It is particularly since his participation in Top chef (season 3, in 2012), from which he also emerged as a big winner, that his life has changed. But success, he already knew it before. In his restaurant Mahogany, located in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, Jean Imbert received a slew of personalities, from Robert De Niro to Johnny Hallyday via Gérard Depardieu. The chef nicknamed “star friend” has since closed the establishment… which has been taken over by a family member!

According to information from Gilles Pudlowski, renowned food critic, Mahogany – later became granny in homage to his deceased grandmother – will soon reopen its doors. Or almost. No longer the same name, no longer the same owner, but the same address. It is at 35 bis rue Jean de la Fontaine, in the Auteuil district, that Léopold Imbert, younger brother of the world famous chef, settles. The place is currently under construction. Also, the name of the establishment would be under consideration.

The opening is scheduled for Monday March 7, 2022. On the menu, customers will not find the good dishes of granny but rather a bistronomic cuisine “with traditional ideas brought up to date“as Gilles Pudlowski points out on his website. A nice project for Léopold Imbert (25), who has already worked in Bowls of Jean then with Laurent de Gourcuff for Paris Society.

This is a family project! Jean Imbert sells his restaurant to Léopold while the third brother, Raphaël Imbert, is not far away. Indeed, his gallery, adjoining the establishment, has been transformed into a co-working space. Remember that for his part, Jean Imbert, who will appear on M6 in the thirteenth season of Top Chef, will be back in Saint-Tropez this summer at To Shareopened with Pharrell Williams, and continues to delight customers at the Plaza Athénée, where he took over from Alain Ducasse last July.
