A 21-year-old young man driving under the influence of alcohol at more than 120 km/h on the Jacques-Cartier Bridge was caught by the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The young driver was intercepted during the night from Saturday to Sunday while driving at high speed on the Jacques-Cartier Bridge, where the maximum speed allowed is 50 km/h.
Worse, he was driving impaired. “He obtained a result of more than double the allowable limit on the approved breathalyzer test,” the SQ said in a press release.
The young offender received a fine of $1,414, accompanied by 14 demerit points. His driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days and his vehicle was seized for a period of 30 days.
“Speed is one of the leading causes of fatal collisions to occur on Quebec roads,” the SQ pointed out.
