Jacques Barbaud is lucky to have a grain of voice that resembles that of Brel, but his will is above all to interpret his songs and above all not to imitate because the Belgian singer is unique. It was a real challenge to tackle this repertoire, which required a lot of work for him to be able to bring things out and share them with the public.
In this recital, there are essentials such as La Valse à mille temps, Amsterdam, Vesoul or Ne me quitte pas, but also other lesser-known titles such as Love is dead or How to kill his wife’s lover.
Jacques Barbaud completely lives the songs on stage, because for him it’s singing and doing theater at the same time as resuming Brel, because the texts are bits of life.
