“It’s a first step. It will put everything on the table”, welcomed Tuesday March 28 on franceinfo Philippe Vigier, MoDem deputy for Eure-et-Loir, vice-president of the Democrat group (MoDem and independents) in the National Assembly and member of the Joint Joint Commission (CMP), while Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne invited the unions to come to Matignon at the beginning of next week. Philippe Vigier says to himself “happy” that this meeting takes place in order to “put everything on the table and discuss this pension reform, its application”.
“Everything will not stop with the pension reform”insists the deputy. “A country cannot move forward if there is no social dialogue, if we do not mobilize the intermediary bodies, the unions.” The MoDem group in the National Assembly has “called for this dialogue, even advocated the fact that there could be a mediation“, recalls Philippe Vigier. “We cannot leave a country without creating social dialogue which is taking hold.”
“Review” clause in 2027
The elected MoDem reminds that there is a clause “review” that the centrists have “imposed in this law and which has been validated by the famous joint committee”. This clause “expects in 2027, September 15, 2027, a freeze frame” to see “where is the application of this law, to see whether or not we must continue the path that we have traced to reach 64 years of age in 2030, or if the macroeconomic conditions possibly make it possible to change things”. “We have to talk to each other, we have to move forward, we have to dialogue, we have to appease the country”, argues Philippe Vigier.

The MoDem deputy refutes the idea of a pause in the reform as requested by the inter-union. “We must not put it on hold, we must not stop it. We must explain to the unions that everyone must come around the table and find a way”, says Philippe Vigier. He also insists on insisting that “64 years old is not for 2024. We have to stop lying to the French. 64 years old is for 2030”. He asks to wait “2027” to see if “yes or no we really have to go to 64. If we have to go, we will go. If, on the other hand, we can find other means, we will do it differently”. Philippe Vigier asks the unions not to arrive at Matignon “with oukases [Ordre impératif, décision arbitraire et sans appel, ndlr] from either side. If we arrive with oukases, it’s a dead end”.
