In Catania, Sicily (Italy), the Red Cross has set up makeshift tents to cope. Despite these efforts, several boats from Tunisia have been shipwrecked in recent days.
Young hospital doctors on strike in Britain
In Great Britain, young hospital doctors parade in the street for four days, unheard of in the country. They are demanding a 35% wage increase. Their payslip has been frozen for several years. Some earn barely 16 euros per hour. “The problem is that 40% of my colleagues, myself included, plan to leave the hospital next year if nothing changes”, says a young hospital doctor. For its part, the government condemned this movement, which forced the postponement of nearly 200,000 operations.
