The news had the effect of a thunderclap. On Twitter this Thursday, March 23, 2023, it’s “with regret” that the festival organizers “Marrakech of laughter” have confirmed the postponement of the upcoming edition. A motivated choice for “logistical reasons” according to the press release relayed by M6 : “Restoration work on the Badii Palace will be carried out, thus preventing the reception of the public at this time.
With a heavy heart, they also added: “by attachment to the identity of the Festival that it was decided to postpone it, no other site can replace this emblematic place which saw the birth and growth of the Festival. Jamel Debbouze and all the Festival teams would like to thank the public for his fidelity. Since its creation in 2011, this event imagined by the husband of Mélissa Theuriau and her brother Karim has become essential for the French-speaking media!
To animate it “Rods of humor” organized in Morocco, the happy father of two children constantly calls on countless comedians acclaimed by the public. Thus, Florence Foresti, Gad Elmaleh, Camille Lellouche, Nawel Madani, Ahmed Sylla or even Elie Semoun took pleasure in performing on stage at his request. The opportunity for Jamel Debbouze to also launch talents who are just emerging in the world of stand-up. All in all, a nice boost!

By broadcasting its editions, the sixth channel obviously sets audience records every year. In any case, this beautiful project is the pride of Jamel Debbouze. Every year, anonymous people and stars rush there to attend the preview of his exceptional show. “During the launch, I was sure that it was going to stop very quickly. Finally, in front of the enthusiasm of the artists and the public, I cannot stop such a carousel, it is launched!”, rejoiced Jamel Debbouze facing our colleagues from “TVMagazine”in 2022.
And to emphasize: “It’s extraordinary because there is now an African gala, an Arabic-speaking gala and a French-speaking gala, we are really happy. We have the impression of laughing, having fun and being useful somewhere” . To believe what he says is a constant outburst behind the scenes: “The Marrakech of laughter has become a mix between a summer camp and a World Cup. It’s a bit like the Champions League of comedians […]”. Nicely said!
