Guest on 11/13 info on Thursday July 11, Franck Riester, the Minister Delegate for Industry, reacts to Emmanuel Macron’s letter and to criticism from the left, who accuse the president of “denying” their victory at the polls in the second round of the legislative elections.
Divisions are growing after Emmanuel Macron’s letter to the French people published on Wednesday, in which he does not recognize any majority for the legislative elections, and asks the political forces to “dialogue”and find some “compromise”. Guest of the 11/13 info Thursday July 11, Franck Riester, Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and the Attractiveness of France, responds to the representatives of the New Popular Front, who claim their victory in the legislative elections Sunday evening: “They are the ones in denial of democracy”he believes, because “The President is telling the truth, that there is no clear majority in the National Assembly”.
Franck Riester, however, acknowledges the defeat of the presidential camp: “Of course we lost”he concedes, like his colleague Roland Lescure, Minister Delegate for Industry of France, invited on franceinfo the day before. But he also underlines that the forces of the left “are so far from the absolute majority, there will inevitably be permanent opposition on all subjects”.
And to respond to the call from the general secretary of the CGT, Sophie Binet, to “put the National Assembly under surveillance” : “I call on everyone to be reasonable, calm and respect our institutions”he said, assuring that he had to “take into account” left-wing votes that would have allowed him to be re-elected against the RN.
