We remember… in January 2022, the terrible news fell: Florent Pagny announced that he hadinoperable lung cancer. It was from a video on his Instagram account where he appeared unrecognizable, emaciated, pale and bald, that the singer informed his thousands of fans. A disease against which he had undergone heavy sessions of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, which he was in a hurry to stop then in full remission. A terrible mistake because the recurrence was quickly at the rendezvous. Today, after this “tsunami”, the 61-year-old singer seems confident and on the road to recovery as he indicated on May 25 on the set of Telematin from France 2, facing Julia Vignali: “When we know that now it’s undulatory and that it will last a long time, we’re cool, we cross our fingers, it’s going well…” And above all to admit: “I’m lucky, the protocol works great every time. Now I understand, I stop not taking it”, referring to the voluntary cessation of his immunotherapy treatment decided after his first chemotherapy. “Today I lay low, I stop bragging”
In this interview, the artist returns to this serious error of having abandoned his treatment: “I realized that cancer cannot be treated in four days with antibiotics nor in six months of chemotherapy, which, moreover, requires regular check-ups… Even if it goes well, overnight (…) things can come back… I gave myself a chance. I stopped treatment. So I then started this treatment again” he admits. And to ensure that he now follows a new protocol very seriously: “I havestarted other treatments which require going there every three weeks. New examinations show that this is disappearing. But now, I no longer let go of my treatment! Today, I keep a low profile, I stop bragging because it comes, it goes, I make it cool…“, he assured. Because his dearest desire is, as he announced, to resume the course of his life as a singer and to resume the path of concerts. He will therefore be touring festivals this summerbut at his own pace: “On the last tour, I introduced a third half. But the doctors told me I could sing, but not overdo it. So please don’t wait for me after the concert” he launched to his spectators who came to applaud him in Nîmes, at the beginning of July.
