Israeli strikes continue in Gaza

Israeli strikes are still taking place in the north of the Gaza Strip on Monday October 23. Israel has stepped up its strikes and the army says it bombed more than 300 Hamas military targets in 24 hours. “We hit hundreds of terrorist targets, we bombed tunnels where Hamas terrorists were hiding,” assures Daniel Hagar, spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces. In front of the entrance to a hospital in the south of Gaza, ambulances follow one another after the night’s strikes.

A humanitarian break requested

Many children are among the patients and the hospital is already overloaded. “Death lurks in this room. No one knows in advance when patients will arrive,” says Mohammed Al-Naklah, doctor at Al-Nasser Hospital. Despite the arrival of the first humanitarian trucks during the weekend, resources are lacking. In hospitals, the situation is becoming critical. The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borell, called for the establishment of a humanitarian pause to allow the distribution of aid.
