There “break” daily operations of the Israeli army in the south of the Gaza Strip have “no impact” notable on the arrival of humanitarian aid, said the World Health Organization (WHO) on Friday June 21. Entry of products and commodities “was minimal” since Israel announced on Sunday a respite from “8 a.m. to 7 p.m., every day and until further notice”on a road section of around ten kilometers going from the Israeli crossing point of Kerem Shalom to the European Hospital of Rafah, along the Egyptian border.

Aid workers “cannot go to Kerem Shalom and recover [l’aide humanitaire] safely due to the lack of public order and security”, deplores the WHO. An essential element for producing electricity for hospitals, but also bakeries, fuel was however able to enter in limited quantities. Israel assured on Sunday that this “local tactical break” was part of efforts to “increase the volume of humanitarian aid entering the Gaza Strip”.
