Israel and Hamas at war | Canadian organizations unite to help victims of Gaza

(Ottawa) Twelve Canadian organizations are uniting under the banner of the Humanitarian Coalition to raise funds to provide assistance to the distressed population of the Gaza Strip.

These organizations include CARE Canada, Médecins du monde, Oxfam-Québec, Save the Children Canada and World Vision Canada.

The executive director of the Humanitarian Coalition, Richard Morgan, appeals to Canadians for compassion and generosity towards those who find themselves in the middle of the fighting and who suffer its consequences head-on.

It reports that children, women, the elderly and disadvantaged people face serious difficulties in the Gaza Strip and have no safe place to go to escape the conflict. Many of Gaza’s hospitals no longer have electricity and are facing shortages of medical supplies essential to the well-being of vulnerable populations.

The Humanitarian Coalition says its member organizations are active in the region and liaise with local charities and partners to ensure that funds raised in Canada are spent only for humanitarian purposes.

The Coalition invites Canadians to help provide emergency assistance to those affected by the crisis in the Gaza Strip by making a donation at www.HumanitarianCoalition.ca or by calling 1-855-461-2154.

Coalition members also call on all parties involved in the Middle East conflict to protect civilian lives and allow humanitarian aid to reach those in greatest need as quickly as possible.
