(Mumbai) The Russian Olympic Committee was suspended by the International Olympic Committee on Thursday for flouting the Olympic charter by annexing sports federations from four western regions of Ukraine.
IOC spokesperson Mark Adams said the NRC’s decision adopted on October 5 violated the territorial integrity of the Ukrainian Olympic Committee.
Adams indicated that for the moment this suspension has no impact on the possible participation, under a neutral banner, of Russian athletes in the Paris Olympic Games next summer.
