Phone in hand while chatting with friends in the street, for example, the inexplicable then curiously happens: “I was telling my mom I wanted to buy a pair of boots and then I went on Instagram and all I had was ads for boots popping up.”says a user.
Is your faithful companion actually a snitch? For a cybersecurity expert, the theory of a spy phone that listens to us constantly is unlikely: “It would consume too much battery. It would require a significant internet connection. It would slow down the networks too much and it would be quite indiscreet; some experts could realize this”he explains. Apps, especially free ones, could explain how targeted ads reach us.
