Injured Kirby Dach will be out long term

Forward Kirby Dach suffered a “significant injury” and will be out long-term, the Montreal Canadiens announced on Monday.

Dach appeared to be injured in the first period of Saturday’s game against the Chicago Blackhawks, when he was hit by Jarred Tinordi. He headed to the locker room a few moments later and did not return to the game.

A Canadiens spokesperson did not offer further details regarding the nature of the injury on Monday, but confirmed that it was a significant injury and that Dach will be out for a good while.

His condition continues to be evaluated and the team is expected to offer more information in the coming days.

Dach has two assists in as many games this season. He collected 14 goals and 24 assists in 58 games last season, his first with the Canadian.

The Habs will host the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday evening at the Bell Centre.
