In eastern Ukraine, the war intensifies on Thursday, May 26. While most residents have fled the bombings, the elderly are forced to stay put.

Fighting ever harder and shelling that does not stop: the war in Ukraine is intensifying in the east of the country. In Kharkiv, the city has become almost deserted, giving way to abandoned memories, here and there, by the inhabitants who fled in the face of the scale of the fighting. Some, too old to leave, stayed. A volunteer comes to help them every day or give them a little moral support.

Electricity just restored, windows that have exploded under the weight of the bombs as well as a certain lack of food, this is what those who have remained in their apartment have to face. For seriously ill residents who have seen all their loved ones leave, the moral and physical situation is even harder. They fight to stay alive and have a chance to see their families again.
