The volcano Marapi in Indonesia is indeed erupting. A dark and worrying plume is seen, with ashes thrown up to 3,000 meters in height. “At help momlook at the situation I’m in.”calls Zhafarah Zahrim Febrinaa 19-year-old hiker burned on the face by the fiery clouds. She survived, like another hiker.
The Marapi, a great excursion destination
This volcano is renowned for being a great destination forexcursion but also for being one of the most active on the island of Sumatra. The injured were evacuated on foot by rescuers. Helicopter use is not possible in this area. 11 deaths have been recorded, while 12 people are still missing. The relatives of the missing are in despair. Authorities have imposed a three-kilometer exclusion zone around the crater. Despite the risks, research is not interrupted.
