Like every evening, the 11pm news report takes a look at the news broadcast by European television channels. It’s the Eurozapping of Tuesday, July 9.
In Russia, the Indian Prime Minister discusses the strikes on Ukrainians. Received as a friend, for this 22nd meeting with the head of the Kremlin, Narendra Modi does not hesitate to mention the things that upset: “When innocent children are murdered, it pierces the heart, it is an unbearable pain. And we need to talk about it.” Words that do not seem to offend the Russian president: “Please find ways to resolve the Ukrainian crisis, of course, peacefully.”
Before their discussions, they had visited an exhibition on the history of nuclear power together, after an “informal” tête-à-tête on Monday evening, July 8. There was no question of darkening relations. India has been importing nearly half of its gas from Russia since the start of the war in Ukraine. Enough to deserve the highest Russian civilian distinction.
