Around 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, Montreal firefighters were called to intervene in a building located on rue Hochelaga, not far from the intersection with rue Paul-Pau, in the Tétreaultville sector.
They then brought the outbreak of fire under control, potentially caused by an incendiary object thrown through the window. Only minor damage was observed.
As the origin of the incident is suspicious, an investigation was carried out by the Montreal police.
Smashed window
It was the second time in three days that the trade was at the center of such an incident.
Last Friday, around 2 a.m., a call to 911 had led the firefighters to go there since a window of the business had been broken. It was while securing the premises that they would have found an incendiary object already extinguished.
“The object would have possibly extinguished itself, causing no fire propagation. So the damage was only at the level of the shattered window, ”said a spokesperson for the Montreal Police Department, Caroline Chèvrefils, on Sunday.
Again, the investigation was entrusted to the police who are trying to determine the causes of the incident.
