In Vienne, green roofs to promote energy savings

More aesthetic, green roofs, which have a longer lifespan than traditional coverings, retain and absorb rainwater, which is sometimes polluting. “We no longer need large networks to evacuate water to stations that are very expensive”, explains the director of infrastructure at the Town Hall of Chauvigny. Plants do not need much maintenance or human intervention.

No need for air conditioning, they keep cool and help to break up heat islands in cities where housing areas are dense, especially during heat waves.
