The results of the second round of the presidential election. Emmanuel Macron is in the lead in Pays de la Loire, also in the lead in Mayenne. The re-elected president, however, is down from his performance in 2017, Marine Le Pen is gaining some ground.
In our department, he obtained 64% of the votes cast against 36% for Marine Le Pen. It’s better than his national score but it’s to be tempered because he lost ground, 8 points less compared to the result of the second round of 5 years ago. The candidate of the National Rally is progressing.
Twenty municipalities in Mayenne have chosen Marine Le Pen, especially in the east and north-east of the department. Let us also underline a result which is not trivial and it happens in Rennes-en-Grenouilles, a village located near Lassay-les-Châteaux. No winner here, perfect tie: 79 voters, 78 cast, 39 votes for Macron, 39 for Le Pen. For the anecdote, in Château-Gontier-sur-Mayenne, during the counting, we recovered two funny ballots. Voters facetious or vexed by the choice to be made, one voted for Coluche, another for Michel Drucker.
