A whole Vaucluse village is mobilized around the shooting of the film “Life”. Alongside actors Natacha Réignier, Mogamed Bechiev and Marie-Christine Barrault, residents and shopkeepers act as extras. The film will be released in theaters in September 2023.

It is the effervescence in the commune of Caromb, in the Vaucluse. For a month, the village of 3,200 souls is transformed into a film set for the filming of the feature film Life. A first film by director Dragan Nikolic starring Natacha Régnier (The dream life of angels)Mogamed Bechiev (tomorrow belongs to us) and Marie-Christine Barrault (Mothers Day).
When a film crew arrives in a village, it’s the attraction of the year. Especially when the production team calls on locals to play their own roles. That day, it is the turn of the primeur couple to be extras. “It gives us a bit of publicity for the village and it’s interesting that the cinema is interested in small businesses like us”, rejoices trader Israel Strollo. To make her bakery as authentic as usual, the baker has put aside all the unsold products. On the day of the shoot, the windows of his store were as appetizing as when the batch came out..
To shoot this film, the production accompanied by the Luberon Vaucluse Film Commission devotes a budget of 200,000 euros for accommodation, food and related costs. “It’s about thirty people between the technical team and the actors who live together for a month and a half. We requisitioned all the lodgings in the village and the surrounding area, which is very pleasant”, assures producer Eric Porcher.
In the streets of Caromb, the inhabitants now cross easily Natacha Régnier or Marie-Christine Barrault. The romantic drama is due out in theaters in less than a year.
