An administrative investigation was ordered on Saturday February 3, after a police emergency team intervened on Friday at the home of a couple in Sanary-sur-Mer (Var), just a few minutes before the husband, a sixty-year-old drunk, kills his wife.
On Friday, at 2:30 p.m., a police emergency team arrived at the couple’s home, at the request of the 64-year-old wife. They then observe on the spot “their respective state of alcoholism and the existence of a marital dispute”according to the Toulon prosecutor.
A couple unknown to the police
While the woman explains that she does not wish to file a complaint, her husband “spontaneously several weapons and ammunition” to the police, weapons he possessed illegally. This couple was until now unknown to the courts. The police were called back at 4 p.m., where they found the woman’s lifeless body. The husband, aged 69, “immediately indicates having killed his wife with a bladed weapon”according to the prosecution.
“In order to determine whether the rules for intervention and handling of this type of situation were respected, an administrative investigation, parallel to the judicial investigation, was ordered by the interdepartmental police director”, specifies the prosecution. The accused should be referred to him by Sunday with a view to opening a judicial investigation for spousal homicide.
