When singing helps to forget prison, this is the screenplay of the film, “In the Shadow of Girls”, which will be released in theaters next Wednesday, April 13. A famous opera singer, played by Alex Lutz, agrees to lead a singing workshop in a women’s detention center.
His career as an opera singer came to a standstill, so in a women’s prison, Luc Jardon found a new professional motivation: teaching singing to a group of six inmates. This is the scenario of the film “In the Shadow of Girls” which is released in theaters on Wednesday April 13. “He knows he’s probably going to be shaken up and it’ll also help him get moving again.“, explains actor Alex Lutz. As expected, the confrontation between the opera singer and the inmates turns into a showdown.
Between the high walls of the prison, singing sometimes has the air of freedom. “The idea was obviously to start from the real voices completely different from each one and to manage to make a harmony of them”, details Agnès Jaoui who plays the role of Catherine in the film. Filming took place in Belgium. Turned into four thirds in order to suggest thehe confinement, the film touches by its accuracy.
