Wednesday April 13, a search was carried out in a Buitoni factory, in the North, while 53 cases of contamination with the bacterium escherichia coli were identified after the consumption of pizzas.
On Wednesday April 13, gendarmes carried out research in a Buitoni factory to find the origin of the contamination with the Escherichia coli bacteria of several pizzas of the brand. Since April 1, the Caudry (North) factory no longer produces any pizza. In this factory, the food inspection services noted many serious anomalies, such as the presence of rodents and a lack of maintenance and cleaning.
A former employee of Buitoni testifies anonymously. “The cleaning was not done in depth. We did the biggest as quickly as possible”, she says. Since February 2022, at least three reports have noted failures at this plant. “I remind you that the first cases of intoxication took place at the beginning of January and that it was not until mid-April that the first searches took place”, underlines Pierre Debuisson, lawyer of plaintiff families. Buitoni and Nestlé claim to be cooperating with investigators.
