War in Lebanon: inside a front-line hospital

While on Saturday October 5, new Israeli strikes took place on the Lebanese capital and the activity of several hospitals in the city was suspended, report from a hospital which is operating despite the risks.

On the road leading to the Bekaa Valley, it is possible to find everywhere the portrait of Hassan Nasrallah, the former leader of Hezbollah, eliminated by Israel. Located in eastern Lebanon, the Bekaa plain is the rear base of the Shiite movement. For 13 days, it has been one of the areas most targeted by the Israeli army. Right in the center is a hospital. During the night of October 4 to 5, a bombing came close to the health establishment.

In just two weeks, 400 injured people were admitted, including 45 children. Among them, a young nine-year-old patient. The bombing of his home in southern Lebanon killed his parents and twin sister. All he has left is his cousin, Ibrahim. At the time of the strike, he had gone to get the car to evacuate the whole family. “I arrived and saw the house destroyed. I found body parts. That’s all I found”he says in tears.
