In the grip of budgetary difficulties, Laval Cyclisme 53 continues its adventure in National 1 in 2023

It’s a big sigh of relief for the leaders of Laval Cyclisme 53. After a very good season for the road team in National 1 (24 wins, 56 podiums), uncertainty hovered over the future of the team in highest amateur level. The club had difficulty making ends meet its budget (280,000 euros in 2022). This Friday, the Laval club announces that he will continue the adventure in Nationale 1, in particular thanks to the support of the Department of Mayenne. The community has decided to increase its subsidy from 40,000 to 75,000 euros for the 2023 season. As a direct consequence, the Route de Nationale 1 team will bear the name “Team La Mayenne” from January 1, 2023. The historical partners of the team, monbana and VandB also renew their commitment with the club. And the company Quickbased in Mayenne, will be one of the new sponsors of the team which will participate in its fourth season in National 1.

From change to sports management and a full squad

Following the departure of the sporting director, Steven Laurent, the club was looking for a new sporting director. They will be two to lead the team on a daily basis under the leadership of the team manager, Vincent Jérôme. Julien Selvestrel and Corentin Davy have been recruited.
