As the price of fruits and vegetables continues to rise in supermarkets, Tuesday August 23, consumers are turning to pickings, where they buy cheaper products.

With inflation, many families are tempted by picking of fruit directly on a farm. “There, we have more than two kilos at a reasonable price”, comments a father. “The taste has nothing to do with a supermarket, and then, price level, as soon as we pick them ourselves, of course, there is no labor, it’s all good’“, adds a woman. With the increase in fruits and vegetables, a farm offers more than 50 varieties of garden products. “For a family of six, it’s important”assures a mother.

The short circuit has found its audience. “People with this feeling of coming to the source, directly in the field, we can’t get any shorter. It has an interest on the quality, on the price and on the knowledge of what we eat“, says Thibault Cozon, farmer-market gardener at the picking from Plessis-Chanteloup-en-Brie (Seine-et-Marne). The attendance of the picking increased by 5% in one year.
