In the Drôme, off-season weddings are on the rise

Marriages know no crisis. To believe that now there are no more rules in the post-covid era. For the coming month of October, Céline has taken out her order book for at least twenty deliveries: “we have always had a few weddings in the fall but not as many as now. Since the end of the Covid, we have weddings later in the year, it starts in April but it goes until the end of November…“explains the shopkeeper in her shop in Valence.

The winter wedding is becoming more and more popular

She also points to the unfavorable summer weather: “them temperatures also mean that people can get married further away“. Many are those like Isabelle who have quickly decided that they will not celebrate with these temperatures: “we chose the end of September because it is the best time, the days are beautiful and mild, unlike this heat wave that has just passed!

Wedding planner Manon Brichet has observed this trend with some of these clients: “they tell me they don’t want this heat so they switch to winter“. She finds that, forced or not, the winter wedding is more and more popular: “these are the first years when I have requests of this type, in December or at the beginning of the following year. Couples realize that it works well too. For our activity, it opens up other ideas, other styles, other atmospheres, etc. It’s interesting.”

These requests are not in the majority but all the same. In Valence, for example, weddings in the winter period represent 30% of requests in 2022.
