Hunted & Crossed, a Dordogne application, allows hunters and walkers to indicate their presence in the same place. A simple geolocation system, which, provided they have a network, would allow hikers to walk in the forest in complete safety. #TheyHaveTheSolution

Michaël Albié, a hunter since he was 16, has developed an application for hunters and hikers, to install on his phone. The principle is simple: when a hunting party takes place, hunters indicate the area concerned directly via the application, at the same time warning hikers of potential danger. For Mireille, president of a hiking club, the idea makes it possible to move around more safely. “If there is a hunting area, it gives a notification and we will also notify that we are there”she explains.

“The area is in red on the application, this is where we are going to hunt”, announces Michael. To take advantage of this initiative on the hunter side, you have to get your hands on the wallet. The price for the latter is 5 euros, against free use for walkers. A price ultimately low, to help restore the image of hunting currently marred by many accidents. “The idea is to be able to share our territory with as many people as possible in complete safety and erase this bad image that we have, which is completely false”, says Julian.

An expensive but necessary project

To develop Chassé & Croisé, it took 30,000 euros, invested by Michaël from his own funds. The birth of the application comes directly from a personal situation that affected her. “One day my wife had to go for a walk in the forest and she didn’t go because she was afraid to go out, she didn’t know where we were. I realized that there were a lot of people in this case, I deduced that there was a need”he explains.

“That way, when we hike, we know that the hunters are there”, concludes a walker. Currently in New Aquitaine, 14 hunting companies have, for the moment, downloaded the application, i.e. a total of 150 hunters.
