The Ukrainian offensive in Russia continues. A week after the start of this surprise attack, a state of emergency was declared on Wednesday, August 14 by Moscow in the Belgorod region, now targeted by the Ukrainian army.
In the Belgorod region (Russia), a few kilometers from the border with Ukraine, Ukrainian air attacks are numerous. On the morning of Wednesday, August 14, the governor of the region declared a state of emergency “to better protect the population.” Now, the Russians fear ground attacks on this region, in addition to the Ukrainian incursion that began a week ago further west, in the Kursk region.
Faced with the situation, sometimes with the means at hand, the Russians launched the evacuation of more than 120,000 people, the second largest evacuation of civilians since the second war in Chechnya. Many arrived in Kursk (Russia), often with nothing.
Although the city is located about a hundred kilometers from the border, the inhabitants do not feel safe. A fear fueled by regular air alerts and the fall, a few days ago, of a missile in front of a building. 15 people were injured.
