Saturday June 15, several tens of thousands of opponents of the far right marched throughout France at the call of the unions.

In Paris, Saturday June 15, the Place de la République was packed with people. The Parisian demonstration against the far right had union leaders at the head of the procession and the same message. “Mobilize yourself to vote, (…) for a project of progress, solidarity, more social justice”, summarizes Marilyse Léon, general secretary of the CFDT. Members of the New Popular Front also responded and called for a surge of voters. “We are facing History with a capital H. The return of the extreme right to our country, almost promoted by the President of the Republic with this dissolution,” observes Yannick Jadot (EELV).

In the gathering, many young people share the concern of seeing the National Rally come to power. At the end of the procession, thugs attack street furniture and scuffles break out with the police. The demonstration did not escape the violence of some rioters.
